Women's basketball dominates Fontbonne in 95-67 win

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's basketball team left little doubt on Saturday afternoon that a 42 point loss to Fontbonne a month ago was not a true indication of the strength of the GU squad. Rather, the Panthers dominated Fontbonne from start to finish this time around, winning the contest 95-67 and pulling closer to Fontbonne in the SLIAC standings.

Greenville put up 19 points or more in every quarter, netting 23 points in the first and second quarters and 30 in the third stanza as they built their win.

GU led 23-12 after one and 46-29 at halftime.

Coming out of the locker room at halftime, Greenville outscored Fontbonne 30-17 to carry a 76-36 advantage into the fourth quarter.

As Greenville cleared their bench in the final frame, Fontbonne bettered Greenville by two points, but it was far from enough to change the outcome.

Emily Reinneck and Madelyn Stephen each reached or exceeded 20 points in the game. Emily Reinneck posted 24 points with 9-of-13 converted shots, including 6-of-8 three pointers.

Stephen lit up the scoreboard with an 8-of-14 shooting effort and 4-of-6 treys.

Emily Reinneck led GU with eight rebounds, Ally Cantrill posted six assists, and Abigail Reinneck collected four steals.

The Panthers (10-9, 4-5 SLIAC) travel to Spalding on Monday for a game at 5 p.m. Eastern/4 p.m. Central.
