Women's basketball winds down road schedule with 87-75 loss at Westminster

FULTON, Mo. - The women's basketball team fell behind early in Wednesday's contest against Westminster and their comeback efforts were not enough in an 87-75 loss on Wednesday night.

The Panthers trailed 29-18 after the first quarter and gradually tried to work their way back with 18-17 and 20-19 advantages in the second and third quarter, but they were unable to erase the deficit.

Emily Reinneck led the Panther scoring effort with 21 points and Madelyn Stephen ended with 13 points and seven rebounds.

Off the bench, Haven Robertson provided 11 points, and Payten Morris contributed 10 points,

Greenville shot better than the Blue Jays in the game, posting a 48 percent to 44 percent shooting effort. However, GU was outrebounded 39-27 overall and by 10 on the offensive glass resulting in 16 more shots for the Blue Jays.

GU also committed four more turnovers than Westminster with a 22-18 deficit.

The Panthers (11-10, 5-6 SLIAC) travel to Blackburn on Saturday for a game at 1 p.m.  That will be GU's last regular season game away from H.J. Long Gymnasium.
