Women's basketball tops Eureka for second time to move closer to SLIAC quarterfinal hosting rights

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's basketball team topped Eureka on Wednesday night in H.J. Long Gymnasium, eliminating deficits in the first three quarters and taking the 67-62 win.

The Panthers worked their way back from a 10 point first quarter hole and clawed back into the game, trailing 21-17 after the first period.

Greenville briefly held the lead in the second quarter but ultimately faced a 39-33 Eureka advantage at halftime.

The Panthers worked their way back, tying the score at 41-all with 6:05 to play in the third quarter and were down 52-51 after three quarters.

Greenville took the lead for good on a jumper by Ashley Anderson with 3:52 left in the game, establishing a 60-59 lead, and went on to score nine of the last 12 points to finish the contest.

Anderson and Payten Morris each finished with 12 points to lead GU in the scoring column. Morris completed the double-double with 10 rebounds.

Abigail Reinneck also reached double figures with 10 points and was the squad co-leader with three steals.

Emily Reinneck posted nine rebounds, a team-high four assists, and three steals.

The Panthers (13-10, 7-6 SLIAC) host Spalding in their final regular season home game on Saturday at 1 p.m.
