Women's basketball moves into SLIAC semifinals with 66-61 win over Spalding

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's basketball team advanced to the semifinals of the SLIAC tournament with a 66-61 win in Wednesday night's game against Spalding.

The Panthers and Golden Eagles were knotted at 14-all after the first quarter, and Greenville faced a 29-26 halftime deficit.

In the third quarter Greenville went on a 23-9 run to take double figure lead of 49-38 and held off a 23-17 fourth quarter rally from the Golden Eagles for the win.

Greenville ended 25-of-62 from the field, producing a shooting percentage of 40.3 percent. GU went 6-of-16 from behind the three-point arc and 10-of-15 at the free throw line.

The Panthers outrebounded Spalding 43-29.

Haven Robertson finished as Greenville's leading scorer with 14 points, and Madelyn Stephen had 13 points. Emily Reinneck and Ashley Anderson each had 10 points.

Emily Reinneck, Anderson, and Payten Morris all ended with six rebounds, and Abigail Reinneck posted four assists. Emily Reinneck and Ally Cantrill each had three steals.

The Panthers (15-10) will play Westminster at 5:30 p.m. on Friday evening at Webster.
