Women's basketball falls 98-59 against Webster

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's basketball team played Wednesday night's game without the services of leading scorer Emily Reinneck, and it showed as the team dropped their matchup with Webster 98-59 in H.J. Long Gymnasium in a matchup of the SLIAC's two first place teams.

Savana Powell-Goodman and Ally Cantrill tried to do their part to fill Reinneck's nearly 15 point per game average scoring void. Powell-Goodman led GU with 15 points, and Cantrill finished with 14 points as Greenville's only players to reach double figures.

The defensive pressure mounted by Webster was difficult for the Panthers, and GU ended with 27 turnovers in the contest.

Cantrill and Carolina Hoffman each produced team highs with four assists and three steals, and Abigail Reinneck led Greenville with seven rebounds.

The Panthers fell behind 25-11 after the first quarter, and Webster pushed their lead to 47-25 at halftime.

Greenville's halftime adjustments allowed them to play even with Webster in the third quarter at 20-all, but WU outscored GU 31-14 in the final stanza.

With the loss, the Panthers (14-6, 7-2 SLIAC) dropped into second place in the SLIAC standings, and they will face Principia on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Elsah, Ill.
