Women's basketball drops 85-75 contest versus Crowley's Ridge

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's basketball team hosted Crowley's Ridge in a non-conference tilt on Thursday night in H.J. Long Gymnasium. The Pioneers ended the game as 85-75 winners over the Panthers despite a 28 point explosion from Greenville guard Carolina Hoffman.

The Panthers led 18-17 after the first quarter, and Crowley's Ridge managed to take a 37-36 lead at halftime.

The Pioneers added two points to their lead, making the score 56-53 after the third quarter, and then pulled away from Greenville with a 29-22 advantage in the final frame.

GU's offensive production primarily came from four of the five starters who played 30 minutes each. Hoffman knocked down 28 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the filed, including 3-of-4 three-pointers, and 5-of-6 free throws.

Savana Powell-Goodman added 15 points, Alyssa Seymour totaled 10 points, and Natalie Iberg posted eight points.

Seymour missed a double-double by one rebound with nine in the game. The Panthers outrebounded CRC 48-46.

Hoffman managed to add team leading marks with three assists and six steals. Alyssa Abascal also had three assists.

The Panthers (3-3) will host Spalding on Saturday at 1 p.m. in H.J. Long Gymnasium.
