Women's basketball falls to Westminster at home

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's basketball team suffered a 77–60 loss to Westminster on Wednesday night in H.J. Long Gymnasium. Savana Powell-Goodman led GU with a team-high 15 points, Mia deJesus posted nine points, and Sierra Compton tallied eight points in the defeat.

The Blue Jays led Greenville 20-17 after the first quarter and carried a 38-34 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Westminster began to pull away in the third quarter when they outscored the Panthers by five points, and they tacked on eight points to the winning margin with a 24-16 advantage in the fourth quarter.

The Blue Jays won the game at the free throw line, knocking down 25-of-33 charity attempts, while the Panthers only converted 10-of-21 free throw attempts.

The Panthers (10-8, 7-4 SLIAC) will aim to get back on track with a game at 1 p.m. on Saturday against the undefeated Webster Gorloks.
