Greenville University hires Jenn Stukenberg as program director for gymnastics

GREENVILLE, Ill. - Greenville University has named Jenn Stukenberg as program director for gymnastics.

This summer, she'll begin working with Bill Hopkins, the director of Greenville University's new gymnastics program. They will design and implement a two-tiered gymnastics and tumbling program for the Greenville community – one for young participants (through age 5) and a second for older children (ages 6 and up).

Hopkins, who was Stukenberg's coach at Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO), will lead the new women's gymnastics program at GU. Coaching the University's men's gymnastics program will be Zach Peters, who competed at the University of Nebraska.

"We plan to offer a high-quality gymnastics and tumbling program," Stukenberg said. "It will offer both morning and after-school instruction as a part of GU's outreach to the community."

The gymnastics facilities for the community and the University will be in the former Greenville Ford building on U.S. Route 40. That structure is currently being renovated and will be ready for the launch of the GU men's and women's programs this fall. It will include two gymnasiums, one for beginning gymnasts and another for more advanced participants and University gymnasts.

"Our goal for the community programming is to start in early September," Stukenberg said. "I'm excited about sharing our plans for the program with parents and others in the Greenville area."

Jenn was introduced to gymnastics as a 4-year-old, twice earned All-America honors on the vault as a member of the Southeast Missouri State University team, and for the past 14 years, has served as a gymnastics coach and coordinator at the Edwardsville YMCA.

At the YMCA, she's been assistant coach and choreographer for the 4-10 age group since 2008, and gymnastics department coordinator for the past eight years.

Stukenberg will start work in Greenville on June 27 and will begin developing the gymnastics curriculum and hiring staff at that time. She and her husband, Dave, live in Edwardsville and have two sons.
