Women's soccer takes 1-0 shutout win at Fontbonne to move into SLIAC title match

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The women's soccer team collected a shutout 11-save effort from Addison Miller and a goal in the 28th minute from Ashlie Johnston Cabral during GU's 1-0 SLIAC semifinal win at Fontbonne on Thursday night.

Fontbonne maintained the majority of possession in the first half until Cabral had her first shot on goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, Cabral's shot was saved by the goalie. However, Cabral turned around and scored within the next minute. Her goal was unassisted.

After Cabral's goal, Greenville's pace increased and we saw more shots from the Panthers' offense. Angie Stedman had two shots in the first half, but both were saved by the Fontbonne keeper.

The Panthers had five more shots in the second half. However, none landed, so Greenville brought home a 1-0 win.

The Panthers (10-7-3) will compete against Spalding on Saturday at 1 p.m. in a match for the SLIAC championship and the automatic bid in the NCAA national tournament.
