Women's tennis collects 7-2 win over Rose-Hulman

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - The women's tennis team wrapped up the regular season with a 7-2 win over Rose-Hulman.

The Panthers started the match with wins in all three flights of doubles despite missing the play of usual No. 1 player Mireia Birosta and rolling out atypical doubles pairings.

Shaling Reynolds and Claudia Principal moved up to No. 1 doubles and had to work through a tiebreaker to take an 8-7 (7-2) win.

Addison Brannon and Stephanie Kamp paired together in No. 2 doubles, taking an 8-4 win, and the No. 3 duo of Emily Buratovich and Callie Adkins made it a clean sweep of doubles with an 8-6 win.

In singles, Brannon moved up to No. 1 and lost 6-1, 6-0, but No. 2 Reynolds had no problems in Brannon's usual position and rolled to an 6-0, 6-2 victory.

No. 3 Principal was defeated 6-2, 7-6 (9-7) after a second set tiebreaker, and No. 4 Buratovich won 2-6, 6-3, 13-11 after a lengthy third set tiebreaker.

No. 5 Kamp and No. 6 Adkins had no trouble in straight sets wins. Kamp won 6-3, 6-1, and Adkins took a 6-1, 6-1 win.

The Panthers (8-8) will play Webster on Saturday, May 7, in the semifinals of the SLIAC tournament with a matchup with Principia awaiting the winner.
