Women's track and field begins 2021 outdoor season

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The women's track and field team started their outdoor season with a third place team performance in a meet at Rose-Hulman.

Alexa Seger won the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.29 seconds, and she was fourth in the 200 meter dash after clocking a time of 28.15 seconds.

Tawny Rodriquez won the discus with a throw of 117-0, and she won the shot put with a mark of 35-6. She was third in the hammer at 113-0.

Savannah Maloney was second in the shot put with a distance of 34-2.25, and she secured fourth place in the discus throw after producing an attempt of 97-11.

Ashley Smith placed fourth in the hammer throw after reaching 94-1.

Hannah Williams ran an impressive early season 1500 in 5:13 for fourth place.

Next week, the team will be split with the distance runners traveling to the SLIAC cross country championships in Litchfield, Ill., at the Litchfield Country Club while the sprinters, jumpers, and throwers will compete at Washington University in St Louis.
