Women's track and field gains multiple top eight placements at Illinois College

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The women's indoor track and field team compiled 11 finishes in the top eight positions at Illinois College on Friday in an unscored meet.

Sara Yakana posted the third place distance in the long jump, reaching 5.06 meters. Her teammate Katieanna Williams was fifth with a mark of 4.92 meters, and another teammate Aaliyah Vasquez ended eighth at 4.58 meters.

Vasquez ranked fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.51 meters.

Tawny Rodriguez gave Greenville a fourth place distance in the shot put with a long mark of 11.86 meters.

In the triple jump competition, Williams managed to come up with an attempt of 11.19 meters, and Brown was eighth at 9.46 meters.

Emma Brown finished sixth in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 9.66 seconds, and Aaliyah Vasquez ended seventh, clocking a time of 9.68 seconds.

Alexis Roberts was sixth in the 400 meter dash, recording a time of 1:06.61, and Payten Gabbert was eighth in the 400 with a mark of 1:11.54.

Taylor Tucker placed eighth in the 200 meter dash, posting a time of 27.04 seconds.

The Panthers will resume their season at the SLIAC championships on Principia's campus next Friday.
