Women's track and field receives two wins and takes second at McKendree

LEBANON, Ill. - The women's track and field team ended second at McKendree on Saturday, collecting 68 points in the team competition. Tawny Rodriguez continued her strong outdoor season with wins in the discus throw and shot put.

Rodriguez posted a distance of 40.70 meters (133 feet-6 inches) in her winning discus throw attempt, and she reached a mark of 12.92 meters (42-4.75) in the victorious shot put effort.

Greenville ended with two second place entries. Cayden Sharp finished second in the long jump with a distance of 5.07 meters (16-7.75), and Gretchen Carie clocked a second place time of 19:38.29 in the 5000 meter run.

In the 4x100 meter relay, Greenville's team of Sharp, Alexa Seger, Kiki Boscolo, and Aaliyah Vasquez finished their sprint around the track in 50.86 seconds for third place. Sharp also had a third place showing in the 100 meter hurdles, clocking a time of 15.40 seconds.

Sharp and Rodriguez also collected fifth place finishes. Sharp's came in the high jump with a height of 1.47 meters (4-9.75), and Rodriguez provided an attempt of 40.78 meters (133-9) in the hammer throw.

THe Panthers return to competition on Saturday in Greenville at the GU Select Meet.
