Women's track and field takes second at Greenville Select Meet

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's track and field team finished second to WashU at the Greenville Select Meet on Friday at the Greenville University track and field complex.

Tawny Rodriguez won the discus throw with her distance of 40.37 meters (132 feet-5 inches) in her second attempt. Rodriguez was also the champion in the shot put, giving Greenville an effort of 12.75 meters (41-10).

Emma Brown threw the javelin 33.01 meters (108-4), also earning a first place position.

Greenville's 4x100 meter relay team comprised of Cayden Sharp, Alexa Seger, Kiki Boscolo, and Taylor Tucker posted a second place finish in 49.21 seconds.

Tucker also earned second place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.84 seconds.

Cayden Sharp achieved third place in the high jump, producing a clearance of 1.55 meters (5-1). She also finished third in the 100 meter hurdles, completing the race in 15.29 seconds.

Andrea Hudson had an attempt of 30.17 meters (99-0) in the javelin for third place, and Abbi Thomason was right behind at 29.83 meters (97-10).

In the women's long jump, Aaliyah Vasquez reached 4.92 meters (16-1.75) for fourth place, and Katieanna Williams was fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.24 meters (36-10.50).

Gretchen Carie was fourth in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 12:11.47.

The Panthers ended with a total of 121 points, and WashU won the team title with 377.50 points.

The Panthers will return to the track next Friday at Rose-Hulman.
