Women's track and field places third at NCCAA nationals

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's track and field team collected 117 points in their third place trophy winning performance at the NCCAA outdoor national championships that ran Wednesday through Friday.  Bethel (Ind.) was the team champion with 150 points, and Grace placed second.

Cayden Sharp was the awarded field athlete of the meet after placing first in the heptathlon with 4595 points. 

She was also second in the 100 meter hurdles (14.69 seconds), long jump (5.54 meters/18 feet-2.25 inches), and triple jump (11.65 meters/38-2.75); third in the high jump (1.62 meters/5-3.75); and fifth as a member of the 4x100 meter relay team.

Tawny Rodriguez provided two national runner-up finishes.  She offered an attempt of 12.86 meters (42-2.25) in the shot put and a throw of 42.24 meters (138-7) in the discus.

Emma Brown gave Greenville a throw of 36.56 meters (119-11) in the javelin throw which was good for second place.

The third place recipients for Greenville included Abbi Thomason with an attempt of 36.07 meters (118-4) in the javelin.  In addition, Alexis Roberts, Olivia Mansfield, Vanessa Compton, and Taylor Tucker of the 4x400 meter relay team placed third in 4:07.

The Panthers will travel to North Central for a midweek meet on Wednesday and Thursday.
