Sharp holds seventh place position in heptathlon after day one of NCAA Division III championships

GENEVA, Ohio - The women's track and field team was represented by Cayden Sharp in day one of the NCAA Division III national championships. Sharp competed in four events of the heptathlon, ranking second among the field of competitors in the high jump and finishing day one in seventh place.

Sharp opened the heptathlon in the 100 meter hurdles, recording a time of 14.83 seconds to rank 10th overall and scoring 864 points.

In the day's second event, the high jump, Sharp posted the events second best height, reaching 1.64 meters and clearing it on her first attempt. The height gave her 783 points, and she was sixth in the standings.

She posted a distance of 9.40 meters in the shot put, placing 18th in the field. Her performance in the shot put provided her with 490 points and placed her in a tie for eighth place through three events.

However, she rebounded with a time of 25.83 seconds in the 200 meter dash for eighth place in the event and 812 points giving her a total of 2949 points after day one. Her day one total ranked seventh in the field.

Sharp will conclude her participation in the national championships on Friday by competing in the final three events of the heptathlon.
