Cayden Sharp places 11th for women's track and field in heptathlon

GENEVA, Ohio - The women's track and field team completed their participation in the NCAA Division III national championships with an 11th place finish from Cayden Sharp in the heptathlon.

Sharp opened Friday's competition with an attempt of 5.11 meters in the long jump which ranked 10th in the field. She received 589 points in the event, and that gave her a total of 3538 points to place ninth.

In her second event of the day, she posted an attempt of 27.15 meters in the javelin throw to pick up 423 points and move up to eighth place in the standings. She had a total of 3961 points after the sixth event.

Moving into the 800 meter run, the final event of the competition, Sharp needed a solid finish to secure her first All-American award. She ended 17th in the 800 with a time of 2:37.76, gaining 599 points.

Her two-day total of 4560 points was 11th and 130 points shy of an All-American finish.

Sharp ended the event with the second best mark in the high jump and eighth best distance in the long jump.
