Women's track and field collects 149 points in second place performance at Greenville Select Meet

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's outdoor track and field team received wins from Emma Brown and Talahiva Talanoa in their second place team performance at the Greenville Select Meet on Saturday. The Panthers took second place with 149 points in the team scoring to No. 1 rated Washington-St. Louis that collected 276.5 points.

GU's Brown continued her season as the winner in the javelin throw with an attempt of 37.57 meters (123 feet-3 inches).

Talanoa won the discus with a throw of 37.31 meters (122-5).

Cayden Sharp posted a pair of second place finishes. She ran 12.24 seconds in the 100 meter dash and also participated in a leg of the 4x100 meter relay with Jocelyn Fritz, Laila Graham, and Eyonna Owens. The relay completed the race in 48.59 seconds.

Graham offered an attempt of 5.51 meters (18-1) in the long jump to tally the second place position.

Two throwers - Tawny Rodriguez and Ashley Smith - allowed Greenville to win or finish as the runner up in all four of the throwing events. Rodriguez placed second in the hammer throw at 46.49 meters (152-6), and Smith took second in the shot put with a effort of 12.39 meters (40-7.75).

The Panthers will return to the track on Friday, April 21, at Rose-Hulman.
