Women's indoor track and field places third at NCCAA national championships

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The women's indoor track and field team secured 96 points to collect the third place team position at the NCAAA national championships. The Panthers collected performances from three individual national champions and a national championship relay team.

Sara Yakana posted a national title in the triple jump with an attempt of 11.47 meters (37 feet-7.75 inches).

Laila Graham provided the top finish in the high jump with a clearance of 1.62 meters (5-3.75)

Talahiva Talanoa, the weekend's female Wheeler award winner, gave the Panthers a title in the weight throw with a mark of 18.07 meters (59-3.5).

The 4x800 meter relay team comprised of Norah Swinigan, Vanessa Compton, Sedina Logan, and Brooklyn McKee completed their race in 10:23.72 to win by over 15 seconds.

Overall, the Panther efforts resulted in four titles and three third place finishes.

The Panthers will return to the track at Illinois College on Feb. 16.
