Women's track and field takes second at WashU

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The women's track and field team compiled 95.5 points win the squad's second place showing at the WashU Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

GU's 4x100 lit it up when Taylor Tucker, Sara Yakana, Jocelyn Fritz, and Laila Graham set a school record with a time of 47.46 seconds that broke the school record by almost half a second and holds the fourth best season time in the NCAA Division III.

Talahiva Talanoa recorded a team best 24 points with first in the discus throw (42.02 meters), second in the hammer throw (45.24 meters), and third in the shot put (12.74 meters).

Graham was right on Talanoa's heels with 21 points in her individual events. Graham placed second in the long jump (5.47 meters), second in the high jump (1.55 meters), and third in the triple jump (11.11 meters).

Yakana posted first place in the long jump (5.50 meters) and second in the triple jump (11.33 meters).

Emma Brown placed first in the javelin with her attempt of 39.95 meters.

The team will return to action at Illinois College on April 6.
