Greenville tops Rose-Hulman in four sets

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The women's volleyball team defeated Rose-Hulman on Friday evening at Illinois Wesleyan in their first of three matches scheduled at the Shirk Center this weekend. The Panthers triumphed with a 27-25, 23-25, 25-20, 25-18 decision against RHIT.

With a hitting percentage of .156 in the match, Greenville relied on their defensive presence to top the Engineers in four sets.

Mia Bonacorsi and Chasity Hill each led Greenville against the attack of Rose-Hulman with 22 digs each.

At the net, Greenville posted 16 block assists, paced by Bonacorsi and Mia deJesus who each had four. Lainey Hickey also contributed three block assists.

Bonacorsi also led GU's offensive production with 10 kills and four service aces enroute to 16 total points in the match.

Sacorra Patton and Madison Schmidt each finished with eight kills.

Kaitlin Murray provided 21 set assists to the Panthers winning effort, and Amanda Hollis contributed 16 set assists.

The Panthers (3-2) will continue their season on Saturday with matches against Illinois Wesleyan and Concordia Wisconsin.
