Volleyball completes second straight undefeated SLIAC regular season

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The volleyball team completed their season-long quest for an undefeated conference season with a three-set win over Webster on Thursday night in H.J. Long Gymnasium. The Panthers collected a 25-20, 25-11, 25-13 win.

With the win, GU secured their 20th win for the 12th time in 13 seasons with only the shortened 18-2 spring 2021 campaign keeping them from 13 straight seasons with 20 victories.

The Panthers have now won 34 straight conference league or tournament matches spanning three seasons.

It took the Panthers some time to get accustomed to Thursday's match when they hit .088 in the first set with 10 kills and seven errors on 34 swings.

They posted a 13/3/33/.303 line in set two and went 13/4/33/.273 in the final set.

Mia Bonacorsi totaled a 12 kill effort, hitting .290 in the contest. She finished only one dig short of a double-double with nine and added three service aces.

Lainey Hicks and Sacorra Patton each provided six kills, and Kaitlin Murray led Greenville's setting efforts with 16 assists.

Hicks paced GU with one solo block and three block assists, helping with four of Greenville's five blocks.

Chasity Hill helped Greenville by passing along 17 digs.

The Panthers (20-6, 14-0 SLIAC) will travel to Illinois College for a tri-match on Saturday against IC and Knox.
