Volleyball adds two more regular season wins

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The volleyball team traveled to Illinois College for their final tuneup in advance of the SLIAC tournament next weekend, and the Panthers won a pair of three set matches. They defeated Knox and Illinois College on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers opened the day with a 25-11, 25-22, 25-13 victory against Knox.

Greenville collected 38 kills and seven errors on 80 swings, posting a season best hitting percentage of .388.

Sacorra Patton led Greenville with nine kills and Laneisha Lott and Lainey Hicks each had eight kills.

Kaitlin Murray posted 16 set assists.

Hicks also added a solo block and three block assists, joining Madison Schmidt who also added three block assists.

The effort in the back row was led by Chasity Hill with 10 digs.

The Panthers had a much closer match against Illinois College, taking a 25-22, 25-23, 25-22 win.

Lott was the team leader with 11 kills and a hitting rate of .286.

Murray again finished as GU's leader with 18 set assists.

Hill posted 13 digs to lead the way, and Mia deJesus and Hicks each posted a solo block and block assist.

The Panthers (22-6) will host their semifinal match at Noon on Saturday, Nov. 5, against an opponent to be determined. The championship match is scheduled for later that night at 6 p.m.
