Volleyball upset in semis of SLIAC Tournament

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The successful season of the volleyball team came to a crushing conclusion on Saturday in the semifinals of the SLIAC tournament in Greenville. Despite Greenville's efforts in a highly successful first set, the Blue Jays came back and earned the 15-25, 25-23, 25-23, 20-25, 15-12 win over GU.

Mia Bonacorsi led Greenville with 20 kills on 50 swings. She had nine errors and posted a hitting percentage of .220.

Kaitlin Murray paced the Panthers with 23 set assists.

The Panthers back line was led by SLIAC player of the year and defensive player of the year Chasity Hill, who had 20 digs.

Amanda Hollis provided 16 set assists and 17 digs.

At the net, SLIAC newcomer of the year Lainey Hicks led GU with nine block assists. Madison Schmidt provided six block assists.

Following the match, head coach Tom Ackerman, Hill, and Hicks received special individual honors.

The Panthers concluded the tournament with a record of 22-7.
