Women's volleyball takes over SLIAC lead with win over Fontbonne

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's volleyball team played Tuesday night's match against Fontbonne with first place in the SLIAC standings on the line. The Panthers came out on top in four sets to regain first place and push ahead of Fontbonne in the win-loss rankings.

Greenville captured the match with set scores of 25-21, 26-24, 21-25, 25-17.

Mia Bonacorsi posted a match-high 14 kills with only three errors in 37 attacks to post a hitting percentage of .297.

Abby Grohmann was right behind Bonacorsi with 13 kills and seven errors in 33 attacks and a hitting rate of .182.

Kaitlin Murray finished with a match-high 21 set assists, and Emma Ratermann posted 15 set assists.

GU's defense was led in the back row by Bonacorsi who completed a double-double with 12 digs. Chasity Hill posted 11 digs.

At the net, Mia deJesus tallied one solo block and three block assists in leading a front row that totaled seven blocks.

The Panthers (15-8, 10-1 SLIAC) moved one-half match ahead of Fontbonne in the SLIAC standings. They return to the court on Friday night at 7 p.m. at home against MUW in their Homecoming match.
