Baseball tops MacMurray 10-6

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. — The baseball team moved into third place in the SLIAC Eastern Division standings with a win on Saturday at MacMurray. The Panthers won 10-6.

Greenville took the early lead in the game with an RBI double from Klaiton Wolff in the first inning.

Greenville made the score 4-0 in the top of the third after Travis Ralls delivered a two-run single and Wolff had an RBI groundout.

MacMurray took a brief 5-4 lead with five runs in the bottom of the third, but the Panthers regained the lead 6-5 in the top of the fourth when Andrew Torbeck scored on a wild pitch and Jesse Getz recorded an RBI single.

GU added two runs in the top of the sixth inning. Two runs scored on an error by the leftfielder on a ball hit by Ralls, and Wolff produced a two-run single.

The Highlanders added a final run in the bottom of the sixth.

Sam Alendar was the winning pitcher with six innings of work. He allowed six runs, but just four were earned.  He struck out eight.

The Panthers (11-14, 6-6 SLIAC) host Iowa Wesleyan on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in a doubleheader.
