Baseball topped 11-3 by MUW in non-conference road game

MILLINGTON, Tenn. - The baseball team concluded their weekend series against MUW on Saturday with an 11-3 non-conference loss to the Owls at the USA Stadium complex in Tennessee.

The Panthers led 1-0 in the second inning after Brexton Beard scored on an error by the pitcher, but MUW gained the lead with two runs in the second and two in the third to go up 4-1.

Greenville moved as close as two with a run in the top of the fourth to make the score 4-2, but the Owls posted five runs in the bottom of the fourth to build an insurmountable 9-2 lead.

Beard posted two hits for the Panthers and scored two runs from the leadoff spot.

Jacob Sutton hit 1-for-1 and reached base all five times when adding his four walks.

Ian Wilson and Terry Millikan each pitched two innings in the game. Wilson started and only allowed two unearned runs. Millikan ended the game on the rubber and permitted two runs on four hits.

Austin Moses pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless relief, and Ty Kueper provided a scoreless relief inning.

The Panthers (11-21) will go to Webster for a doubleheader at Grizzlies Ballpark on Saturday.
