As soon as the FLW tournament ended, team members Cordell Beckmann, Trevor Davis, Adam Green, Dru Johnson, David Bartlett, and Mark Burnham got one day to prepare for the Big Bass Bash hosted by the Collegiate Bass Fishing Series (ACA) on the same body of water of Kentucky Lake. This tournament has three to four different weigh-in sessions per day where individuals tried to catch the biggest fish they could and bring it up to the scales during a weigh-in.
For the last FLW event of the fall, the bass fishing team found themselves needing freshman to step up to the plate. Boat captains Cordell Beckmann and Evan Seggerman took along David Bartlett and Trevor Davis to start the week off at the Open, a two-day event that consisted of trying to bring in a five fish limit both days.
When the most recent standings for the 2020-21 Bass Pro Shops School of the Year were published, the Greenville University fishing team was third in its national ranking of 140 teams.
Just two days after finishing their tournament on the Mississippi River, team members Cordell Beckmann and Dru Johnson were back on the road. This time they headed south to Lake Hartwell for the third BASS regional of the year.
The team of Cordell Beckmann and Dru Johnson along with Ricky Huge and Cale Jausel left on Tuesday, Aug. 18, unknown of what to be expected of fishing a tournament with many new regulations. Upon arrival, the practice period showed how easy it was gong to be to stay safe and keep a safe distance from others. This gave the team members a lot of confidence going into tournament day even though the fishing was a lot tougher than what is expected of the Mississippi River.
