Men's basketball tops Spalding 86-82

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The men's basketball team avenged a loss from their first conference game of the season with a 86–82 victory at Spalding on Wednesday evening.

The Panthers, who entered the game back in their traditional position leading the NCAA in scoring, fell short of 100 points for the first time this season.

Greenville led 39-35 at halftime and pushed their advantage to as many as 17 points in the second half.

GU withstood the Golden Eagles efforts to come back and moved into second place in the conference standings with the win.

Ja'Rod Webb finished the game at the top of Greenville's scoring list with 15 points. Grimmett Glenn posted 14 points.

Adrian Alvarez totaled 13 points, and Darius Scott, Kiarie Patrick, and Carlos Crespo each added nine.

Jamie Calmese led the Panthers with nine rebounds, and Patrick and Vincent Rodriguez each posted four assists and three steals.

The Panthers (7-4, 3-1 SLIAC) will return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 2, with a game against Principia in H.J. Long Gymnasium.
