Men's basketball maintains SLIAC lead with 138-98 win over Westminster

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's basketball team kept their position as the SLIAC leader with a 138-98 win over Westminster on Wednesday night in H.J. Long Gymnasium. Kiarie Patrick converted 14-of-16 shot attempts and led the Panthers with 29 points in the outing.

GU led 73-52 at halftime and added another 19 points to their advantage by outscoring the Blue Jays 65-46 in the second half.

The Panthers finished the game with seven other players that exceeded 10 points. Vincent Rodriguez and Adrian Alvarez each had 14 points, and Carlos Crespo and Travis Dickey posted 13 points.

Jamie Calmese added 11 points, and the Panthers' 10-point scorers included Malik Johnson and Christian Bennett.

Rodriguez and Alvarez led GU in assists with four in the game, and Kaidyn Johnson posted a team-high seven rebounds.

The Panthers forced 38 turnovers, and Rodriguez picked up six steals.

The Panthers (13-5, 9-2 SLIAC) go to Webster on Saturday for a game at 3 p.m.
