Men's basketball downed by Spalding in SLIAC semis

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The men's basketball team faced Spalding in the semifinal round of the SLIAC tournament on Thursday night at Fontbonne, and the Panthers suffered a 110-95 defeat to end their season.

The Panthers led 58-53 at halftime, but the Golden Eagles gradually worked their way back into the game and outscored GU by 20 points in the second half.

Greenville was led in scoring by Ja'Rod Webb who posted 18 points in the game. Kiarie Patrick finished with 17 points, and Vincent Rodriguez posted 13 points.

Jamie Calmese and Adrian Alvarez each added 10 points.

Patrick completed a double-double for GU by adding 10 rebounds, and Rodriguez fell one assist short of a double-double with nine. Rodriguez also paced the team in steals with five.

The SLIAC championship tri-winner Panthers finished the season with an overall record of 18-8.
