Men's soccer topped 4-1 by Central

GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Panthers hosted Central (Iowa) on Monday afternoon for their second contest of the season. Greenville dropped the match 4-1 to the Dutch.

It was a slow start to the game, but Central jumped on top with their first goal in the 19th minute. Greenville had some scoring opportunities in the first half, but none made it across the goal line.

The Dutch added another goal in the 30th minute, leaving the score 2-0 going into halftime.

They only outshot Greenville by one in the first half (5-4).

The pace of the game picked up in the second half. Attempting a comeback, Greenville scored in the 54th minute. Pablo Valverde crossed the ball into the box where Jaime Torres headed it in for a goal.

Central responded with two more goals in the 70th and 80th minutes.

Although the Panthers outshot the Dutch 7-5 in the second half, Central still came out on top.

Greenville (0-2) will hit the road on Friday to face Asbury at 6 p.m.
