Men's tennis wins a pair of matches in Indiana

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. - The men's tennis team earned a pair of wins in a Saturday trip to Indiana. Greenville defeated a short-handed Franklin team 9-0 before winning 7-2 over Wabash.

In the Franklin match, the Panthers competed against a team that only had a roster of five players, thus Greenville earned victories by default in No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.

Nobody that competed for Greenville at Franklin lost a set as the Panthers cruised to the win.

The No. 2 doubles duo of Tyler Blume and Luke Motsinger picked up an impressive 8-3 win, and No. 4 Mathew Rodriguez was a 6-1, 6-1 winner.

The No. 1 doubles team of Austin Burkhart and Zach Merrill won a tight match 8-6.

In singles, No. 1 Motsinger, No. 2 Burkhart, No. 3 Blume, and No. 5 Matt Lehr also recorded wins.

In the Panthers match at Wabash, Greenville won two of the three doubles matches with No. 1 Motsinger and Blume winning 8-3, and No. 3 Thibaut Tignee and Rodriguez gaining an 8-2 win.

In singles play, No. 1 Burkhart was a 6-2, 7-5 winner, No. 3 Blume won 6-0, 6-4, No. 4 Rodriguez took a three set 2-6, 6-2, 10-8 tiebreak win, No. 5 Merrill was a 6-1, 6-4 victor, and No. 6 Tignee collected a 6-4, 6-1 victory.

The Panthers (6-5) will host Westminster on Wednesday afternoon in Greenville at 4 p.m.
