Men's tennis crushes Webster 8-1

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's tennis team defeated Webster on Friday afternoon in convincing fashion, solidifying an 8-1 win.

Greenville swept all three doubles matches to get the afternoon started right. No. 1 Austin Burkhart and Mathew Rodriguez and No. 2 Luke Motsinger and Tyler Blume each captured 8-3 doubles wins. No. 3 Thibaut Tignee and Zach Merrill were 8-2 winners.

Despite dropping the No. 1 singles match, Greenville's No. 2 through No. 6 dismantled Webster. No. 2 Motsinger and No. 4 Merrill did not drop a game with 6-0, 6-0 triumphs.

In No. 3, Rodriguez gained a 6-2, 6-2 win, and No. 5 Tignee took a 6-1, 6-1 victory. No. 6 Matt Lehr earned a 6-3, 6-1 win.

The Panthers (7-6, 1-1 SLIAC) go to Westminster on Monday for a match at 2 p.m. in their final tuneup before the SLIAC tournament.
