Men's tennis earns 8-1 win

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The men's tennis team claimed an 8-1 win over Loras on Saturday at the Evergreen Racket Club.  The Panthers won all three flights of doubles and the first five singles flights to claim the win.

The doubles competitions were tight, but GU came out on top in all of them.  In No. 1 doubles, Clark Kent and Luke Motsinger won 8-5.  In No. 2 doubles, Austin Burkhart and Andres Sanches claimed an 8-7 win.  In No. 3 doubles, Thibault Tignee and Zach Merrill won 8-3.

No. 1 singles Andres Sanches had the most domineering match of the day.  He took his contest 6-0, 6-2.

No. 2 Luke Motsinger gained a 6-3, 6-2 win, and No. 3 Clark Kent was a 6-1, 6-4 winner.

In No. 4 singles, Austin Burkhart grabbed a 6-3, 6-4 win, and No. 5 Zach Merrill defeated his opponent 6-2, 6-4.

The Panthers (1-0) play Webster and Anderson next Saturday in Greenville.
