Men's tennis sweeps singles in 7-2 win at Albion

ALBION, Mich. - The men's tennis team kicked off their spring season with a 7-2 win at Albion on Saturday.

The Panthers had a difficult start to the match, dropping two of the three doubles matches, but they swept through singles for the win.

Rafael Rodriguez and Clark Kent were GU's sole doubles winners, taking an 8-6 win in No. 1 doubles.

Rodriguez posted a 6-3, 6-3 win in No. 1 singles, and Kent had a 6-4, 7-5 victory in No. 2 singles.

No. 3 Luke Motsinger was a 6-2, 3-6, 10-6 winner in a tiebreaker, and No. 4 Austin Burkhart also captured a tiebreaker win 6-3, 2-6, 10-8.

No. 5 Thibault Tignee had a tiebreak victory, taking a 6-2, 3-6, 11-9 decision, and No. 6 Julian Delrez earned a 6-2, 7-5 win over former Panther Cecil Burkhart.

The Panthers (5-0) travel to Transylvania for matches against Ohio Northern and Transylvania next Saturday, Feb. 19.
