Men's tennis runs record to 16-2 with SLIAC wins

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The men's tennis team gained two wins on Saturday at Webster. The Panthers defeated Webster 8-1 in their opening match before topping Westminster 9-0.

Greenville started the match with wins in each doubles match against Webster. The No. 1 team of Andres Sanchez and Rafael Rodriguez and the No. 3 duo of Thibaut Tignee and Matt Lehr each won 8-1. The No. 2 team comprised of Clark Kent and Luke Motsinger won 8-3.

In singles, No. 2 Kent was a 6-0, 6-3 winner, and No. 3 Motsinger took a 6-4, 6-4 win.

No. 4 Austin Burkhart rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 victory, and No. 5 Tignee grabbed a 6-1, 6-3 win.

No. 6 Lehr took his match 6-1, 6-1.

Westminster was limited to a team of only three players, so Greenville won No. 2 and No. 3 doubles and No. 5 and No. 6 singles by default.

In No. 1 doubles, GU's team of Kent and Motsinger won 8-2, and Kent, playing No. 1 singles was a 6-1, 6-0 winner.

No. 2 Motsinger came back with a 6-0, 6-0 win, and No. 3 Burkhart had a 6-0, 6-2 win.

The Panthers (16-2, 2-0 SLIAC) will return to action at Millikin on April 23 against Elmhurst.
