GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The men's track and field team did plenty of running, throwing, and jumping on Monday and did it so well they ran away with the first ever SLIAC championship. The Panthers more than doubled the team points from their closest competitor, finishing with 337 team points. Webster took second-place while Westminster placed third.

Greenville took 16 gold medals on the day including the final event on the track, the 4x400. It was a thrilling race that capped the day's events with Greenville leading the first two laps thanks to starts by Treyvon Manning and Nathan Potts. But the Panthers fell behind on the third lap before anchor Andrew Sharp overcame a competitor on the final stretch to grab the first-place finish.

Manning also added gold medals in the high jump and 400-meter hurdles.

Fellow Panthers Jarrid Williams (triple jump and long jump), Jeremiah Davis (100-meter and 200 meter), and Andrew Sharp (400-meter and 800-meter) also recorded multiple first-place finishes.

Andrew Sharp, of Greenville, was named the 2017 SLIAC Men's Track Athlete of the Year while teammate Jarrid Williams was named Field Athlete of the Year.

Jeremiah Davis, also of Greenville, was named the 2017 SLIAC Track Newcomer of the Year.
