Men's track and field sends Jeremiah Davis to 200 finals with prelim win

GENEVA, Ohio -- The men's track and field team had two of its members participate on Thursday at the NCAA national championships.  Jeremiah Davis headlined the day with the top time in the preliminaries of the 200 meter dash.

Davis, a freshman from Chicago, Ill., guaranteed his first All-American award in the event as his time of 21.225 set a new stadium record and career best.  He entered the competition in the number 11 position with a qualifying mark of 21.34 seconds.

Senior Jarrid Williams capped his career by particpating in the long jump where he was 12th.  He completed a jump of 6.83 meters in his first attempt, scratched his second try, and reached a distance of 6.90 meters in his final jump.  He was ranked 19th entering the event with a season-high distance of 7.29 meters.

On Friday, Davis will compete in the 100 meter dash, and junior Andrew Sharp will run in the 800 meter run.
