Men's track and field features four entries at NCAA nationals

The men's track and field team will be represented by four entries at the NCAA Division III outdoor national championships. The annual event begins on Thursday, May 23, in Geneva, Ohio.

The Panthers will be led by junior Jeremiah Davis who runs in three of the events. He qualified with a time of 10.59 seconds in the 100 meter dash, 21.28 seconds in the 200 meter dash, and 41.29 seconds as a member of Greenville's 4x100 meter relay unit.

Freshman Rakim Murphy joins Davis in the 200 with a qualifying time of 21.43 seconds, and Murphy is also a member of the 4x100 meter relay.

Other members of the relay team include junior Mahari Holt and sophomore Di'Mond Salmond. Senior David Martin traveled as an alternate.

Davis has attended Greenville for two years, and he is making his second appearance in the 100 and 200 meter dashes at the national championships. In 2017, he was the national runner-up in the 200, and he was ninth in the 100.

All other Panthers (Murphy, Holt, and Salmond) are competing for the first time.

The last 4x100 relay to qualify from Greenville was in 2015.

The national championship preliminaries for Greenville begin on Thursday. The 4x100 meter relay will compete at 2:15 CT, and at 4:10 p.m. CT, Davis and Murphy will run in the 200 meter dash.

On Friday, May 24, Davis races at 12:40 p.m. Central time in the preliminaries of the 100 meter dash.

All finals will take place on Saturday, May 25.
