CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The men's volleyball team has their first MCVL player of the week in 2019.  Ryan Nelson earned the nod as the defensive player of the week for the first time.

Nelson produced 24 digs and successfully received 20 of 21 serves in the Panther matches on Saturday against Maranatha Baptist and Fontbonne.

Greenville defeated Maranatha in three sets and lost in three sets to Fontbonne.

Nelson averaged four digs per set in Greenville's matches.

He became the first Panther in school history honored with the defensive player of the week award.  Johnny Milabu was Greenville's most recent MCVL player of the week in April 2018.

The Panthers (9-7) traveled to Lincoln on Wednesday night for a junior varsity and varsity match.
