Emily Butler returned to Greenville University to relaunch the men’s volleyball program in May 2023.
Butler was a four-year member of the Greenville volleyball team as a setter and defensive specialist, Butler played in two the NCAA national tournaments (2015, 2016) and served as an assistant coach for two seasons (2017, 2018) when the Panthers qualified for the NCAA national tournament.
After her time as an assistant coach, Butler spent four years as the head volleyball coach at Monmouth College where she led the team to its first Midwest Conference tournament appearance in nine years. Each season, the Scots won 11 or more matches, reaching a high of 15 wins in 2021. Their 2021 record of 15-14 marked the program's first winning season since 2012.
Coach Butler has also coached club volleyball from 2015-2024 earning a 2016 Mid East Qualifier Gold Bracket 3rd Place, 2018 Gateway Regional Championships, two USAV Bids (2022, 2023) and a 2022 USAV National Championship.
