Softball downs Knox in Good Friday doubleheader

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The softball team dominated Knox College on Friday with two five-inning games. The Panthers put up 16 runs in the first game and 15 in game two, collecting a total of 35 hits on the day. 

Emma Longcor led GU offensively in game one with a 3-for-3 plate appearance with two runs, three RBIs, and two stolen bases. 

The Panthers had doubles from a handful of players, a triple from Josie Grunloh, and a homer over the center field fence from Sarah Salas

Salas was also on the rubber for Greenville, allowing only one earned run and two walks. She was awarded with her third win of the season. 

In game two, Natalee Moore crushed it at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two runs and four RBIs.

GU collected more doubles in game two, a triple from Jamey Johnson, and another home run from Salas. Salas hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the second. Valerie Greenley also hit a solo shot over the fence in the same inning.

Melissa Bernal started in the circle for game two, throwing four innings. Bernal collected three strikeouts and the win. Destiny Dunlap relieved her in the fifth inning and had two strikeouts. 

The Panthers (15-3) kick off conference games tomorrow at Spalding at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
