Softball demolishes Health Sciences and Pharmacy in doubleheader sweep

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The softball team hosted the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy on Thursday afternoon, sweeping them with two five-inning short games. 

In the first game, the Panthers collected runs in the first, third, and fifth innings to earn the 10-2 win over the Eutectics. The visiting Eutectics put up more of a fight in game two, but the Panthers triumphed over them with an 11-3 defeat. 

Natalee Moore was the designated hitter for Greenville in game one and led the team in RBIs and hits. She went 3-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs.

Sydnee Garrett was on the mound for GU for game one, only allowing two hits the whole game. Garrett is now 7-2 on the season.

Garrett also killed it at the plate. She knocked two out of the park: a two-run homer in the first game and a solo shot in game two. Garrett went .500 on the day with three hits and four RBIs.

In the second game, Emma Williams and Madi Case led at the top of the order with three RBIs each. Williams hit two-hole, going 2-for-4 with three runs, and Case followed her in the third spot with a 3-for-4 performance and two runs. 

Greenville threw Valerie Greenley for game two. Greenley had one strikeout and one walk, earning her fifth win of the season. 

The Panthers showed off their speed with seven stolen bases on the day. Williams accounted for three of them. 

Greenville (17-5) has another conference matchup on Saturday. They will face MUW at home at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
