Women's basketball stops MacMurray

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- The women's basketball team outscored MacMurray in every quarter as Greenville raced to an 80-49 win over the Highlanders on Tuesday.

Greenville slipped ahead 13-10 after one quarter and was up 37-27 at halftime before taking off in the second half.  The Lady Panthers outscored MacMurray 23-10 in the third quarter and 20-12 in the final period for the 31 point win.

The Lady Panthers shot nearly 50 percent from the field as they made 34-of-69 shots from the floor.

They controlled MacMurray on the boards, outrebounding MacMurray 50-23.

Morgan St. James came off the bench to tie Kayla Horlacher of MacMurray as the game's leading scorer with 16 points.  St. James and teammate Laura Goodnight were the game's top rebounders with eight boards.  Goodnight added 15 points and two blocked shots.

Claire Schmitt and Wesley Woodard both tallied 14 points.  Kelly Lenz totaled 10 points and a game-high six steals.

The Lady Panthers (5-2, 2-1 SLIAC) host Robert Morris Springfield on Friday at 8 p.m. in the first day of their tournament.
