Women's basketball tops Eureka 74-49

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's basketball team celebrated Valentine's Day with a 74-49 victory over Eureka to run their winning streak to five games.

Greenville led throughout the contest, holding a 16-8 lead after the first quarter and a 33-25 advantage at halftime. After the third quarter, the Panthers led 51-37, and GU outscored the Red Devils 23-12 in the final period.

The balanced scoring effort of the Panthers resulted in a high of 13 points from Mia deJesus and 10 points provided by Cortney Brummer.

Savana Powell-Goodman added nine points, and Natalie Iberg and Carolina Hoffman each posted eight points.

Alyssa Seymour added a dominating performance on the defensive end of the floor with 12 rebounds and 13 overall.

Hoffman added five assists, and Powell-Goodman had four steals.

The Panthers (15-9, 12-5 SLIAC) go to Carlinville on Saturday for a game at 1 p.m. against Blackburn. The Panthers will also host a SLIAC quarterfinal tournament game on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in H.J. Long Gymnasium against an opponent to be determined.
