Women's soccer knocked from first place perch

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The women's soccer team's undefeated conference record was halted by Fontbonne on Thursday night as the Panthers were defeated 4-1.

Fontbonne initiated the scoring in the match with a goal in the seventh minute, but Dani Pearce answered two minutes later with her ninth goal of the campaign.

The match went to halftime in a 1-1 deadlock.

A devasting four and a half minute span beginning in the 53rd minute saw Fontbonne net the game winning goal and two insurance tallies.

Greenville's goalkeeper, Marjory Coates was active as she collected four saves and faced 12 shots.

Pearce posted two of Greenville's three shots, and Tymber Gabbert added the other.  Jade Taylor added the assist for Pearce.

The Panthers (9-5, 3-1 SLIAC) host Eureka on Saturday at 7 p.m.
