GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's tennis team earned a solid 7-2 victory in their opening match of the season on Tuesday at home.
The Greenville squad swept all three doubles matches. The No. 1 duo of Mireia Birosta and Addison Brannon provided an 8-2 win, No. 2 doubles team Claudia Principal and Shaling Reynolds won 8-3, and No. 3 doubles unit Emily Buratovich and Samantha Siefken collected an 8-1 win.
In singles play, the Panthers managed to win four of the six matches with one of the losses ending in a tiebreaker. All four wins were in straight sets.
No. 1 Birosta was a 6-2, 6-1 winner. No. 3 Principal won 6-2, 6-0. No. 4 Shaling Reynolds earned a 6-0, 6-0 win, and No. 6 Noelle Beans was a 6-1, 6-0 victor.
The Panthers (1-0) go to Franklin for a match on Friday at 3 p.m. CT.
