Women's track and field sees Gilles move to day two of NCAA championships

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The women's track and field team was represented by Chelsea Gilles in two events at the NCAA Division III national championships.  Gilles finished second in the 400 meter run to advance to the finals.

A native of Morton, Ill., Gilles began the day's competition in the 400 meter dash.  She was slotted in the second heat and posted a time of 55.897 seconds to win the heat and move to Saturday's finals.  She guaranteed herself an All-American position in the event.

Gilles ran 26.151 seconds in the first 200 meters before ending the race with a time of 29.746 seconds over the final 200 meters.

Later on Friday, Gilles ran in the 200 meter dash and finished in 25.37 seconds to rank fourth in the fourth het and 13th overall.

On Saturday, Gilles will run in the 400 meter dash at approximately 2:05 p.m. as she pursues her second career NCAA All-American honor.
