Volleyball sweeps matches at Spalding

NEW ALBANY, Ind. — The women's volleyball team avenged an earlier season loss with a five set win over Westminster before defeating Spalding in three sets for a perfect day at Spalding.

The Panthers took a two set advantage against Westminster, but the Blue Jays didn't allow Greenville to finish it quickly. Westminster rallied for wins in the third and fourth sets before Greenville finished it with a 17-15 final set win.

Greenville's Abby Freeman led a set of three Panthers with more than 10 kills as she had 18 in the match. Allyson Mitchell gave Greenville 16 kills, and Anna Finch posted 11 kills.

Allyson Grabowski handled Westminster's attacks with 23 digs, and Brittni Bell provided Greenville with a solo block and five block assists.

The match against Spalding saw a tight first set at 25-23 before Greenville dominated sets two and three, 25-15, 25-11.

Finch posted 10 kills and no errors in 15 attacks.

Mitchell led Greenville with 14 digs, and Sarah Watts had one solo block and four block assists.

The Panthers (17-4, 12-3 SLIAC) travel to Principia for a match on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
